Carl von Linné, we owe it that we today call plants and animals in the so-called binomial notation. This plant has been published for the first time 1753 in his "Species plantarum"; for animals in Systema Naturae (1758).
ie since then that we call plants and animals with 2 names, such as Citrus limon (lemon).
The first name we designate the genus Citrus -> citrus fruits and the second name refers to the type of plant -> lemon. News enough, (or confusingly), now the author abbreviations of classifying plants last authors disregard hanged. such as Citrus limon (L.) Burm. f.
Citrus limon
= = citrus lemon
(L.) = abbreviation for Linnaeus
Burm. Nicolaas Laurens Burman f. =
